Well, the fall season and cooler weather have finally arrived. What better time to curl up with your laptop or tablet and review the latest issue of The Journal of Current Clinical Care?

 In this issue, Dr. Michael Gordon’s article, Whose Decision is it Anyway?, describes scenarios and potential solutions for the difficult situation when a substitute decision maker makes decisions based on their own personal biases, and not those of the patient they are meant to represent.

Drs. Katia Faustini and Joseph M. Lam describe ten clinical pearls in the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children.  Atopic dermatitis, the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease in children, is often a challenge to manage. The ten pearls range from looking for mimics of atopic dermatitis to how best to prescribe and describe steroid treatment to patients and/or their families.

Dr. Francesca Cheung describes Juvenile spring eruption, a photodermatitis in boys and young men that develops in the spring or summer and usually clears in 2 weeks. The diagnosis and treatment is described.

Drs. Pradeep Shenoy and W. Wang describe Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the sinonasal tract. This malignancy arises in older adults in their 60s to 80’s, and can be difficult to distinguish from other malignant neoplasms or even non-neoplastic destructive lesions.  Diagnosis by immunohistochemistry and treatment with local radiation or combined treatments is described.
