Robert Lam, MD, MS, CCFP, FCFP (Care of the Elderly) is Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Toronto and a family physician teacher in the Toronto Western Hospital Family Practice Residency Program.
Dr. Lam has an active family practice in the Toronto Western Family Health Team and also provides geriatric consultations in the Falls Prevention Program of the Seniors Wellness Clinic of the University Health Network. Dr. Lam is attending physician in the Geriatric Rehabilitation Program of the Toronto Rehab where he is also Chair of the Education Committee for the Medical Staff Association organizing multiple events and conferences.
Dr. Lam completed his medical school and family medicine residency training at The University of Western Ontario. He received a Master of Science degree in family medicine and gerontology from the University of Minnesota where he also completed a geriatrics fellowship and obtained the certificate of added qualifications in geriatric medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Lam is an active member of the Canadian Geriatrics Society and has spoken nationally on the “Geriatric Jungle” that family physicians face in providing quality care to their elderly patients everyday. In 2010, Dr. Lam was awarded the College of Family Physicians of Canada Janus Continuing Professional Development Scholarship to fund the Five Weekend Care of the Elderly Certificate Course.
