Mary Manno

MARY MANNO, BScN, MD, CCFP Family Physician Oakville, ON A graduate of McMaster University, Dr. Manno worked prior to medical school as a psychiatric nurse-therapist and completed a diploma in Clinical Behavioural Sciences.  That experience has proved invaluable during 25 years practising Family Medicine in Oakville; she continues to refine her psychotherapy skills through further study.   For many years, Dr. Manno taught medical students and tutored Family Medicine residents at McMaster University in Behavioural Science.  She is very involved in Continuing Medical Education, as an author of problem-based educational modules for The Foundation for Medical Practice Education, and as a facilitator trainer.  Dr. Manno is a mentor in the Collaborative Mental Health Care Network of the Ontario College of Family Physicians, providing advice to practicing family physicians on mental health issues.  Dr. Manno also chairs the Saving the Brain Collaborative Stroke Care Network, a project of the OCFP aimed at enhancing collaboration between neurologists and family physicians caring for patients at risk of stroke.  She is involved in planning and providing CME in the community, and is often asked to act as a group facilitator/speaker.     August 2010
