I am pleased to introduce the next edition of the Journal of Current Clinical Care. In this edition, we offer some new topics as well as articles expanding on themes from recent issues.

We have a Clinico-Radiological Quiz by Dr. Pradeep Shenoy from the Cambellton Regional Hospital in New Brunswick. A 7-week-old child presented with left periorbital swelling consistent with periorbital cellulitis. Serious complications can result if this condition is not treated properly. Clinical features, investigations, and treatment are discussed.

Dr. Francesca Cheung from the Lynde Centre for Dermatology describes a patient with localized hypermelanosis with erythema in a reticulated pattern in her article Something is Wrong with Her Back. Erythema ab igne (EAI), the diagnosis, is a skin condition triggered from repeated exposure to heat and infrared radiation. Elimination of the heat source may lead to complete resolution of the symptoms of EAI.

Dr. John W. DenBoer, et al., from the University of Colorado, examine the Personality and Neuropsychological Correlates of Male and Female Sexual Offenders. The investigators measured DSM-IV-TR psychpathology and neuropsychological dysfunction among rapists and child molesters using the Coolidge Axis II Inventory, a valid and reliable assessment instrument. The implications of these findings are discussed.

In his article The Cost of Dementia in the United States: Commentary on the April 2013 New England Journal of Medicine Report, Dr. Michael Gordon, from the Baycrest Centre of Geriatric Care in Toronto, offers our details and a discussion of the staggering and shocking cost of dementia.

I hope you enjoy this issue of JCCC. We look forward to receiving your comments and your article submissions.
